Turoski Recognized at

Stop DWI/M.A.D.D. Awards

On May 18, 2016, Officer Joe Turoski was recognized at the New York State Stop DWI and Mothers Against Drunk Driving Awards (M.A.D.D) Banquet.


Turoski received an Individual Officer Award for his commitment and efforts in making our roadways safer from impaired drivers in 2015.

Department Receives M.A.D.D. Awards

On April 23, 2015, The Guilderland Police Department was recognized at the STOP-DWI and Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) Awards Ceremony.


Traffic Safety Unit Supervisor Sgt. Mike Minette and the Guilderland Police Department itself received awards for outstanding dedication and support for the efforts in deterring impaired driving on New York’s highways during 2014.

Turoski Becomes Drug Recognition Expert

On April 2, 2015, Officer Joe Turoski graduated from Drug Recognition Expert School to become certified as a NYS Drug Recognition Expert (D.R.E.). 


The intensive training took place over three weeks. The first two weeks were held in Nassau County for academic training and testing, following a week in Jacksonville, Florida completing field certifications at a detention facility testing people under the influence of various prescription and illegal drugs. 


There are only 170 Drug Recognition Experts in NYS and about 7000 in the U.S.

Guy J. Barringer Award

Congratulations to Officer Joe Turoski (left), shown here with Traffic Safety Unit Supervisor Sgt. Mike Minette (right). Officer Turoski received the 2013 Guy J. Barringer Award from Albany County STOP-DWI Program for his effort and dedication to DWI enforcement, and making our roads safer for travel.


Guilderland TSU Officers Receive

County Stop-DWI Awards

On December 12, 2014, The Albany County STOP-DWI Program presented Guilderland Officers Joe Turoski and Todd Roberts with the 2014 Guy J. Barringer Award for their efforts and dedication to DWI enforcement.


The Guilderland Police Traffic Safety Unit was also awarded the 2014 George L. Infante Unit Citation Award for outstanding achievement as a unit in removing intoxicated drivers from the roadways making our roads safer for travel. The department award was accepted by Traffic Safety Unit Supervisor Sgt. Mike Minette.
